Washington strongly supports the intensification of the Vietnam-U.S. relations regardless of the U.S. presidential election result, U.S. Ambassador to Vietnam Marc Knapper said at an event in Hanoi on Wednesday.
The two countries’ relationship has benefited from the support of both the Democratic Party and the Republican Party that always back the Vietnam-U.S. ties over the past three decades, the ambassador affirmed at the Election Watch Event held by the U.S. Embassy in Hanoi.
He added that the two parties and the U.S. government back a strong, independent, prosperous, and resilient Vietnam.
The U.S. advocates Vietnam's sovereignty, territorial integrity, and political system, which are fundamental to their bilateral relationship and will remain unchanged.

As a result, the two nations’ close relations will be maintained and develop further no matter who is the U.S. president, Knapper stressed.
American voters, like many others across the world, always want stability, peace, and prosperity.
2025 marks 30 years of the normalization of the Vietnam-U.S. diplomatic relations.
The two countries are working to build a hi-tech, high-income economy, a green economy, and a semiconductor engineer training system.
These are Vietnam’s aspirations and the U.S. is committed to supporting and standing alongside Vietnam to make them a success, the ambassador said, adding that with the foundation already in place, he expects even greater progress between the two countries next year.
