The Munich Chamber Choir, one of the leading choirs in Germany, is set to kick off its three free shows in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City this month.

In Hanoi, the choir, under the baton of Philipp Amelung, will perform in a free a cappella show called “500 years of German choir music” at 8pm on May 4 at the Hanoi Music Conservatory.

The show will feature works by revered German composers including Orlando di Lasso, Johann Sebastian Bach, Felix Mendelssohn, Robert Schumann and Hienrich Kaminski.

The choir will also perform Beethoven’s “Mass in C major” and “Fantasy” alongside local choirs and orchestras at the Hanoi Opera House at 8pm on May 9 and 10.

Free tickets for this show will be available at the Hanoi Goethe Institute starting May 6.

Meanwhile, in Ho Chi Minh City, audiences will have a chance to meet the choir in their a capella show, which features German Christmas carols and hymns from the 16th century and is set to take place at the HCMC Music Conservatory, 112 Nguyen Du, Dist. 1, at 8pm on May 11.

Free tickets for this show will be available at the HCMC Goethe Institute starting May 7.

The events are in commemoration of the Europe Day, jointly put on by the EU-Delegation and the Goethe Institute.

All members of the Munich Chamber Choir are professional singers, who perform regularly as soloists in Germany and in other countries.

Apart from the major choral-symphonic masterpieces by eminent composers including Bach, Händel, Mozart, Beethoven and Brahms, the Munich Choir usually performs works by time-honored as well as contemporary composers.
