Australian trio to bring sweet jazz to Vietnam

Elixir, Australia’s leading jazz trio, will hold three concerts in Hanoi and Da Nang from May 16 to 19.

The band’s first two concerts are to be held at the Voice of Vietnam Theatre in Hanoi at 8pm on May 16 and 17.

The trio, founded by Noonan in 1997, consists of lead vocalist Katie Noonan, saxophonist Zac Hurren and guitarist Stephen Magnusson. They released their debut album called “Elixir”, which was listed as one of the best-selling CDs in Australia, in 2003.

Their second album titled “First Seed Ripening” earned the first spot in the Australian Record Industry Association (ARIA)’s rankings for Jazz music and won the 2011 ARIA Jazz Award.

Katie Noonan is one of the most versatile and popular vocalists in Australia. She has pocketed the ARIA annual music award four times.

The trio is set to give another concert at the Trung Vuong theatre in central Da Nang city 7:30pm on May 19.

These shows are part of the programs held to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the establishment Vietnam-Australia diplomatic ties.
