On June 16, local Medical Publishing House released the English – Vietnamese Dictionary version for the 30th edition of the renowned Dorland’s Illustrated Medical Dictionary in Ho Chi Minh City.
The bilingual dictionary has around 120,000 words and explains more than 122,000 medical jargons with over 1,100 colored illustration photos.
The original version was edited by well-known American doctor William Alexander Newman Dorland, and first printed in 1890 under the name of the American Illustrated Medical Dictionary. After Dorland died in 1956, the dictionary was renamed to include his name.
The word Dorland's is now the brand name for a family of more than 20 medical books.
