The Consulate-General of Japan in Ho Chi Minh City, in cooperation with the Japan Foundation Center for Cultural Exchange in Vietnam, will open an exhibition featuring artwork by young Japanese artists in HCMC today, July 5.
Titled “Winter Garden: The Exploration of the Micropop Imagination in Contemporary Japanese Art,” the event showcases 35 drawings, paintings, and video works by 14 artists active from the latter half of the 1990s throughout the first decade of the 21st century.
The exhibition, which is part of the activities to celebrate the Japan – Vietnam Friendship Year 2013, also includes three videos by Koki Tanaka, who has been selected as the representative artist for Japan at the 55th International Art Exhibition – la Biennale di Venezia in Italy, being held from June 1 to November 28.
“Winter Garden: The Exploration of the Micropop Imagination in Contemporary Japanese Art” will run at the city’s Labor Culture Palace at 55B Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street in District 1 until July 21, from 9am to 7pm every day.
The exhibition was held in Hanoi from June 7 to 23.
