The new English version of a children’s book by a well-loved Vietnamese author, which has been translated into different languages, is poised to be released across the U.S. in October 2014.

The latest English version of the bestselling children’s book “Cho Toi Xin Mot Ve Di Tuoi Tho” (Give Me a Ticket to Childhood) by acclaimed Vietnamese writer Nguyen Nhat Anh will be launched throughout the U.S. on October 9, according to Amazon.com.

The version, translated by William Naythons and published by Overlook Press, is currently sold on Amazon.com for US$10,79 for electronic versions and $17,77 for the hardback.

“Cho Toi Xin Mot Ve Di Tuoi Tho,” blending fond childhood memories with real adulthood ones, has been translated into English, Thai, Japanese and Korean, and released in several countries.

Some 350,000 copies of the original book have been sold. The book has gone through 41 printings and been on the local bestseller list since debuting in 2008.

In late 2010, the book earned its author the Southeast Asian (SEA) Writer Award, which has been given away since 1979 by the Thai Royal Family to writers from each member state of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

The book, and another of Anh’s favorite works, “Kinh Van Hoa” (Kaleidoscope), landed in Japanese Ten-Books Publisher’s “105 Currently Most Read Books in the World” list in March 2014.

The list includes 83 authors from around the world and is based on the books’ number of copies.

Nguyen Nhat Anh, 60, is among Vietnam’s most successful and prolific writer of children’s books, with his works appealing greatly to kids, teenagers as well as adults.

He is also a teacher, poet and journalist. Some of his most popular long stories, such as the 54-volume “Kinh Van Hoa,” have been adapted into hit TV dramas.
