Mickey Mouse and Goofy Dog – two of the most-loved characters from Walt Disney’s cartoons – are in Ho Chi Minh City now ready to entrance kids and adults alike with their 12 magic performances later this month.

“Disney Live! Mickey’s Magic Show” will be staged in 12 shows at Hoa Binh Theater (240-242 3/2 Street, District 10) from September 24 to 28. Mickey Mouse and Goofy Dog arrived in the southern Vietnamese megacity from Singapore on Friday. 

Several more of Walt Disney’s other characters including Donald Duck, Minnie Mouse and Snow White are also set to arrive in the city in a few days.

Just like its editions in over 300 cities in 75 countries, the “Disney Live! Mickey’s Magic Show” in Ho Chi Minh City will also feature fabulous illusions and favorite characters, such as Cinderella and her Fairy Godmother, Alice in Wonderland and the Mad Hatter, and gorgeous princesses Jasmine, Belle and Snow White.

The Vietnam show will offer re-enactments of the tricks featured in the American animation group’s hallmark cartoons, including levitation of Minnie and Jasmine, and transformation of Cinderella’s rags into riches in a split second, as well as the signature film tracks.

Blake Tatroe, of Feld Entertainment, the show’s producer, told the Friday press meeting that more than 70 of Walt Disney’s artists and technicians will arrive in Ho Chi Minh City for the performances.

Jim Steinmeyer, an internationally respected designer of magical illusions and theatrical special effects, who worked with world-leading illusionists such as David Copperfield, Lance Burton, and Siegfried & Roy, will be in charge of the show’s tricks.

The 12 performances are expected to cost a total of over VND12 billion (US$564,812).

“Disney Live! Mickey’s Magic Show” will have two English-language performances, and the other 10 with Vietnamese voice-overs by local singers and artists.

According to the organizer, prior to the performances, Mickey and Goofy will join a clutch of activities including exchanges with fans at District 7’s Crescent Mall today and at Tan Phu District’s Aeon Mall on September 17 and 18.

Similar sessions will also be organized at ILA – a foreign language school – and Soul Music Academy (214-216 Pasteur Street, District 3).
