Flashmob event for environment cause to run in HCMC

A flashmob dance event, which is set to take place next Saturday in Ho Chi Minh City, offers dance enthusiasts an opportunity to both have fun and act for environment’s sake.

The event, part of the “Act for a Green Future” activities initiated by Orient Commercial Bank (OCB), will take place at Hoa Lu Stadium, at 2 Dinh Tien Hoang, District 1.

Huong Giang Idol, a transsexual local singer, will join the participants in the flashmob dances.

Participants will also leave their finger prints to pledge their environmental support.

A flashmob is a group of people assembling suddenly in a public place, performing an unusual and seemingly pointless act for a brief time, and then quickly dispersing, often for the purposes of entertainment and artistic expression.

In Vietnam, flashmobs have become a sort of organized dance, which could take participants anywhere from a few days to weeks or months to prepare.
