Thursday, July 26, 2012, 09:32 GMT+7

Sen. Lieut. Gen. Do Ba Ty, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army, received a delegation from the Royal Thai Navy led by Admiral Surasak Rounroengrom on July 25 in Hanoi.

Ty noted new developments in the cooperation between the two naval forces, which are clearly shown in the exchange of delegations at all levels as well as of young officers, and in personnel training.

He suggested that the two sides should expand their ties, particularly in exchange of information, delegations and coordination in rescue and research at sea.

Surasak Rounroengrom, who visits Vietnam for the first time in his capacity as Commander of the Thai Navy, said he will do his best to contribute to strengthening the relationship between the two countries and two armies in particular.

He asked the Vietnamese Defence Ministry and the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army to continue to facilitate cooperation between the two navies.
