Lao National Assembly (NA) Chairwoman Pany Zathotou welcomed a delegation of the Vietnam Peace Committee, led by its Chairman and National Assembly Vice Chairman Uong Chu Luu, in Vientiane on Oct. 1.

At the meeting, Luu informed his host of the outcomes of the talks between the delegations of the Vietnam Peace Committee and the Lao Committee for Peace and Solidarity, emphasising that cooperation between the two committees over the past time contributed to raising people’s awareness on consolidating and fostering the special Vietnam-Laos friendship.

The two sides will strengthen comprehensive cooperation, especially in information exchange and external relations between them at international and regional forums in the coming time, he added.

They will also maintain delegation exchanges and bilateral activities, assist Vietnamese Agent Orange victims and Lao mine victims, strengthen multilateral cooperation and take part in the World Peace Council’s activities.

Luu also affirmed that Vietnam will do its best to keep and foster the bilateral friendship and said he believes that the seventh Asia-Europe Parliamentary Partnership (ASEP 7) hosted by Laos for the first time will be successful.

The Lao NA Chairwoman said Laos is ready for the ASEP 7, expressing her belief that the meeting will help increase mutual understanding and effective cooperation between Asian and European Parliaments.
