Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Volodin Vyacheslav Victorovich has postponed his official visit to Vietnam, scheduled to take place from Sunday to Monday, due to an unexpected situation in Russia.

The Vietnam News Agency cited a press release issued by the Vietnamese National Assembly’s Committee for External Relations on Saturday as saying that the Russian official wished to visit Vietnam at another proper time.

Observers were closely monitoring the situation in Russia following the uprising of Yevgeny Prigozhin, founder of the Wagner mercenary unit.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said in a televised address that the armed rebellion led by the Wagner Group leader was a result of "excessive ambitions and vested interests” that “led to treason."

In the latest developments, the Wagner mercenaries have halted their approach to Moscow in a move that the Wagner boss said would avoid bloodshed, according to Reuters.

Reuters earlier cited a Russian security source as saying that the Wagner mercenaries had seized all military facilities in the Russian city of Voronezh, some 500 kilometers from Moscow.

Wagner chief Prigozhin previously claimed that his forces had taken control of all military installations in the city of Rostov and demanded that Russia’s military leadership, including Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and the chief of the general staff, Valery Gerasimov, come to him after accusing them of killing his forces.
