Police in the coastal city of Nha Trang are investigating a case in which the bodies of a man and a woman tied to each other with fabric strings were found floating near the seashore of the city yesterday. The bodies, with clothes on, were discovered by locals in the Duong De area in Vinh Hoa Ward at about 2 pm Friday. The corps were not swept away by waves since they were also fastened to a rope that was tied to a rock, according to rescuers who handled the bodies. Police were called to the scene to examine the corps and investigate to identify the dead people. Locals told police that they had found a sheet of paper left on the beach near the place of the corps. The sheet reads, “As these two people have borrowed VND30 million [US$1,440] but they are insolvent… Please burry them…” Besides, there is a Vietnamese word, “Thach”, on a corner of the sheet, local said. Police are launching an investigation to identify the dead couple and the cause of their death.
