-- Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and his Lao counterpart Thongsing Thammavong will attend a ceremony at the Thanh Thuy (in Vietnam’s central province of Nghe An) – Nam On (in Laos’ Bolikhamsay province) border gate on July 9 to inaugurate marker No.460 and celebrate the completion of Vietnam-Laos border planting in the field.

-- A new service has been launched in the northern province of Quang Ninh, offering riders for rent for people who don’t want to be being measured the blood alcohol concentration after drinking by local traffic police .
-- Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee has recently proposed the city’s People's Council a list of criteria of naming streets in the city. According to the new plan, names of some flowers and southern specialties could be use to call streets.
-- Hans Peter Windmer and his wife have spent 3 years on a project of launching vocational training courses to help disadvantaged labors in the southern province of Dong Nai. The couple has also mobilized money to help the labors with their costs of living and introduced jobs for them after graduation.
Business:
-- Budget carrier Jetstar Pacific has announced that it will increase 194 flights for the routes Hanoi – Da Nang, HCMC – Da Nang and Buon Ma Thuot – Vinh from July 19 to August 31.
-- The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has launched a project committing to invest at least US$200million until 2020 for around 1 million local coffee farmers.
-- Vietnam National Administration of Tourism has introduced a program titled "Clear my Kook Vietnam" for local youths who love travel. Through an application named Kool Vietnam, users can contribute information about places they have travelled and the information then will be shared on Facebook for other people to get to know.
