Wednesday, January 25, 2017, 11:31 GMT+7

The Ho Chi Minh City transport department on Tuesday inaugurated the city’s first-ever electric bus service, with four routes allowing locals and tourists to explore the downtown and nearby areas on environmentally-friendly vehicles.

The service includes three routes D1, D2 and D3, and an internal service inside the Phu My Hung residential area in District 7.

The D1 service, connecting 23/9 Park and Saigon Zoo in District 1, is available from 5:00 am to 10:00 pm, with an interval of 30 minutes. Tickets cost VND12,000 (US$0.5) per passenger per trip, or a VND120,000 ($5) full-day ticket for multiple travel.

The D2, running from Sky Garden to Crescent Mall in District 7, and D3, from Riverside to Cresent Mall, runs from 8:00 am to 9:45 pm, with tickets costing VND10,000 per turn.

The last route starts from Hoang Van Thai Street in District 7 and runs around the Phu My Hung area.

The D1 service is invested by Mai Linh Group, whereas the other three are funded by realty firm Pho Canh Co. Ltd.
