Sixty-nine clubbers have tested positive for drugs following a sudden police inspection in the southern Vietnamese province of Dong Nai.

Police in Bien Hoa City, Dong Nai Province carried out a sudden raid on a local club owned by 21-year-old Pham Duy Hung at around 1:00 am on Wednesday.

About 100 people aged from 18 to 30 were partying against loud music at the venue at the time of the examination.

Officers found a considerable amount of synthetic drug powder and pills, while many of the clubbers also showed signs of being high on stimulants.

The law enforcers decided to escort all of the partiers to the police station for a quick test, whose results indicated that 69 of them, including 53 men and 16 women, tested positive for drugs.

Fines were later imposed upon the drug users.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Chau Van Sang, chief of the anti-drug division under the Bien Hoa Department of Police, the raid was part of the agency’s efforts to minimize drug-related crimes during the Lunar New Year.

The 2018 Lunar New Year begins on February 16, but preparation and celebration often take place during the week before and after the date.
