-- The Q&A session lasting two and a half days of the ongoing National Assembly’s seventh sitting started on Tuesday morning, during which delegates will have inquiries for high-ranking officials of the government.

-- Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte is scheduled to pay an official visit to Vietnam on June 5 and 6, a trip that is expected to foster the Vietnam-Italy strategic partnership in various fields.

-- The African swine fever epidemic has spread to ten out of 13 localities in the Mekong Delta since mid-April, with Tien Giang Province being the most recent location to be affected by the disease.

-- One border guard officer in the north-central province of Thanh Hoa was killed and two others injured after they were shot by members of a drug smuggling ring at the Vietnam-Laos border on Monday afternoon.

-- Le Quang Manh, 45, who was previously Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment, was appointed as chairman of the People’s Committee in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho for the rest of the 2016-21 tenure.

-- A 20-month-old boy suffered serious brain injuries after he was hit by a car inside the premises of the Children’s Hospital 2 in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City last Friday, the infirmary confirmed on Monday.

-- Police in Ho Chi Minh City are investigating a case where a local GrabBike driver was allegedly drugged and had his motorbike and other belongings stolen after he was found unconscious at the side of a street in Thu Duc District on Monday.

-- A truck was traveling along the Rach Mieu Bridge, which connects Tien Giang and Ben Tre Provinces in the Mekong Delta, on Monday afternoon when it lost control and crashed into a motorbike running in the opposite direction, killing two people on the vehicle.

-- Pham Nhu Hiep, director of the Hue Central Hospital - Base 2 in the namesake north-central city, confirmed on Monday that the infirmary had successfully carried out corneal transplant for five patients. All of the corneas were donated by late patients of Dr. Edward Charles Kondrot in the United States.

-- Doan Ngoc Hai, vice-chairman of the administration in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, who was previously dubbed ‘Captain Sidewalk,’ was given a job transfer to the Saigon Construction Corporation on Monday. He will work as the firm’s deputy general director.
