Saigon Water Corporation (Sawaco), Ho Chi Minh City’s water supplier, has announced a scheduled service cut that spans two days this week in six districts.
The interruption is attributed to a leak in a water pipeline located at the Pasteur – Le Thanh Ton junction, which forces Sawaco to reduce pressure from pumps in Thu Duc Water Plant and isolate parts of the piping network surrounding the leak.
The service cut is scheduled to occur from 10:00 pm Wednesday to 5:00 am Thursday, and again from 10:00 pm Thursday to 5:00 am Friday in case further repair work is needed.
Certain wards in six districts of Ho Chi Minh City are impacted by the water supply cut.
Specifically, in District 1, the wards of Da Kao, Ben Nghe, Ben Thanh, Pham Ngu Lao, Nguyen Thai Binh, Cau Ong Lanh, Co Giang, Nguyen Cu Trinh, and Cau Kho are influenced.
In District 3, Wards 2, 5, and 6 might suffer a water shortage during the time frames.
The water supply cut is also expected to affect Wards 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 in District 6 and Wards 9, 10, 11, 12, and 13 in District 8.
Meanwhile, a district-wide disruption is experienced by residents in District 4 and District 5.
Sawaco said it has had plans to monitor the entire network to minimize the impact of the water supply halt on the daily routines of Ho Chi Minh City residents.
The supplier vowed to make its best effort to complete the maintenance work as quickly as possible.
