— Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on Friday night requested urgent measures to find two missing crew members and eight others stranded on board a ship in Cua Viet waters in the north-central province of Quang Tri.
— Several fishing boats anchored at Lach Quen fishing port, located in Quynh Luu District in the north-central province of Nghe An, were on fire for an unknown reason on Friday night.
— The investigation department under the Ministry of Public Security on Friday evening announced it had launched legal proceedings against, implemented a search warrant for, and detained Nguyen Manh Hung, deputy general director of the Vietnam Expressway Corporation for violations in investment in construction projects, causing serious consequences.
— Serious flooding, which was caused by torrential rains, across central Vietnamese localities has prompted the urgent evacuation of nearly 20,000 people from 32,000 households submerged in rainwater, while leaving five dead and eight missing.
— Around 80,000 smallholder farmers will get help from pharmaceutical firm Bayer Vietnam in the twin fight against saltwater-drought and COVID-19 in a new program that kicked off recently.
— Vietnam has entered the 38th straight day without any community infection of COVID-19. No new cases have been reported over the past 12 hours, leaving the total at 1,105, with 1,024 recoveries and 35 virus-related deaths, according to the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control.

— British jurors on Friday heard heartrending phone messages left by a group of 38 Vietnamese migrants who suffocated to death in a sealed container in Essex, southeast England, last October 23 after it had been transported on a cargo ship from Belgium, according to AFP.
