— Vietnam on Monday morning reported four new cases of locally-transmitted COVID-19 with all being staff members at Ho Chi Minh City’s Tan Son Nhat International Airport, increasing the country’s tally to 2005, according to the Ministry of Health.
— Ho Chi Minh City on late Sunday night imposed an emergency blockade on the Ma Lang neighborhood with 1,900 residents in District 1’s Nguyen Cu Trinh Ward to take samples for COVID-19 tests and sterilize the area as a local resident had been confirmed as a new infection case.
— According to the Ministry of Health, Vietnam will receive 4.8 to 8.2 million of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine doses AZD1222 for free shared by COVAX (COVID-19 Vaccines Global Access), a global initiative aimed at equitable access to COVID-19 vaccines led by the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization, the World Health Organization, the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations, and others.
— From 6:00 am today, the northern province of Quang Ninh has suspended its interprovincial public passenger transport activities by road and waterway to ensure the prevention and control of COVID-19, the provincial People’s Committee announced on Sunday.
— The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development is seeking the Prime Minister’s approval for a project on planting at least one billion new trees by the end of 2025 for the country’s sustainable growth, the Vietnam News Agency reported on Sunday.
— Police in the southern province of Vinh Long early Monday morning detained 37 motorbikes and 41 people after preventing a group of more than 100 motorbikers from illegal race on the stretch of National Highway 1 through Tam Binh District thanks to report from local residents.
— Bringing electricity to the country's most far-flung is one of the most important and impressive achievements Vietnam has made since the national reunification, with the number of households having access to electricity increasing from 2.5 percent in 1975 to 99.54 percent in 2020, the Vietnam News Agency reported on Sunday.
