-- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his Lao counterpart Sonexay Siphandone co-chaired an investment cooperation conference in Vientiane on Thursday, as part of the Vietnamese leader’s trip to the neighbouring country.

-- National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man received Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam Rogelio Polanco Fuentes in Hanoi on Thursday, highlighting the increasingly strengthened political and diplomatic ties between the two countries.

Society

-- Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha chaired a working session on Thursday afternoon, urging relevant units to speed up work on some sub-projects to complete the Long Thanh International Airport project as soon as possible.

-- The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport aims to expand the application of artificial intelligence (AI) technology to traffic light control at frequently congested locations, the department said on Thursday.

-- A fire erupted at a 300-square-meter area that houses makeshift homes and a business facility in Hanoi at around 8:00 pm on Thursday. The blaze was put out at 9:30 pm, with no casualties reported. 

-- The Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Dong Hoi Hospital in central Quang Binh Province confirmed on Thursday that it had successfully performed surgery on an 18-year-old man who had a steel rod nearly 2.5 centimeters in diameter pierced through his neck.

Business

-- Lao PM Siphandone told the investment cooperation conference that Laos had considered offering some special incentives to Vietnamese businesses to promote investment, in anticipation of a Vietnam - Laos industrial park.

-- PM Chinh and his Lao counterpart also witnessed the exchange of cooperative agreements between the two nations’ agencies and companies to implement a series of projects worth billions of U.S. dollars.
