The People’s Committee of Hoi An City in Quang Nam Province, central Vietnam has written to the provincial administration proposing allowing more groups of visitors to enter Hoi An Ancient Town free of charge.

The city is working to either offer free admission or reduce fees for tourists to visit the ancient town in line with a new resolution.

As a cultural city and a renowned destination for events and festivals, Hoi An daily welcomes many groups of guests who come to work and hold various events while wishing to visit the ancient town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the city's Minh An Ward.

The administration of Hoi An City has proposed expanding its free entry policy to highlight the city's unique cultural heritage and accommodate the sightseeing needs of both local and international visitors.

The proposal, submitted to the provincial People’s Committee, seeks to grant complimentary access to the ancient town for officials from other provinces and cities, as well as representatives from nations cooperating with Hoi An.

The city has suggested extending free admission to local and international tourist groups visiting Hoi An for cultural exchange events, further promoting it as a vibrant cultural destination.

For delegations visiting Hoi An to collaborate and exchange knowledge with provincial agencies, the People’s Committee will provide specific guidelines regarding their access to the ancient town.

Under an earlier policy, certain groups, including children, low-income individuals, reporters, researchers, members of the Cultural Heritage Association of Vietnam, and people with disabilities, are already eligible for free entry to the ancient town.
