The Ministry of Health documented 82,126 more coronavirus cases in Vietnam on Wednesday, along with 15,641 hospital discharges and 91 pathogen-linked deaths.

The newest cases, including 17 imported and 82,109 domestic transmissions, were found in 62 provinces and cities, the health ministry said in a daily update.

Vinh Phuc Province registered 23,784 of the latest local cases, including 21,771 infections detected on previous days but added today; Hanoi 7,419; Bac Giang Province 2,998; Hai Duong Province 2,944; Hoa Binh Province 2,595; Bac Ninh Province 2,505; Phu Tho Province 2,499; Nam Dinh Province 2,203; Quang Ninh Province 1,868; Hai Phong City 1,816; Ninh Binh Province 1,739; Hung Yen Province 1,617; Yen Bai Province 1,556; Nghe An Province 1,525; Thai Nguyen Province 1,499; Ho Chi Minh City 1,451; Lao Cai Province 1,406; Thai Binh Province 1,385; Lang Son Province 1,322; Khanh Hoa Province 1,296; Tuyen Quang Province 1,277; Dak Lak Province 1,262; Quang Nam Province 1,097; Binh Dinh Province 1,059; Ha Giang Province 1,057; Da Nang 918; Lam Dong Province 636; and Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province 515.  

Vietnam had logged 55,871 locally-transmitted infections on Tuesday.

The country has recorded 2,965,092 community transmissions in all its 63 provinces and cities since the fourth virus wave broke out on April 27, 2021. Upwards of 2.31 million of them have recovered from COVID-19.

Ho Chi Minh City still tops the list with 523,593 patients, followed by Binh Duong Province with 294,644, Hanoi with 218,302, Dong Nai Province with 100,666, Tay Ninh Province with 89,370, Ca Mau Province 59,332, Binh Phuoc Province 52,378, Hai Phong City 57,284, Da Nang with 51,609, Dong Thap Province with 47,921, Vinh Long Province 45,163, Can Tho City with 44,784, Long An Province with 42,057, An Giang Province with 35,803, Tien Giang Province with 35,456, Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province with 35,444, and Binh Thuan Province with 31,023.

Vietnam reported only 1,570 locally-transmitted infections in total in the previous three waves.

The health ministry announced 15,641 recovered patients on Wednesday, raising the national count to 2,320,722.

The toll has spiked to 39,719, with 91 virus-related fatalities added today. 

Vietnam has confirmed 2,972,378 patients in total, including 205 imported and community-based Omicron infections, since the COVID-19 pandemic first hit the country in early 2020.

Health workers have administered over 192.4 million vaccine doses, including 408,611 shots on Tuesday, since inoculation was rolled out nationwide on March 8, 2021.

Above 175.6 million doses have been given to the adult demographic of the country’s 98 million people, including 70,899,025 first shots, 67,329,883 second doses, 13,554,051 additional primary jabs, and 22,398,353 boosters.    

A total of 16,769,426 shots have been injected into children aged 12-17, including 8,612,462 first doses and 8,156,964 second jabs.
