Public workers in Vietnam will be given a total of seven days off for the upcoming Hung Kings Commemoration Day, Reunification Day, and International Workers’ Day.

Laborers will have three days off for the Hung Kings Commemoration Day, which falls on April 10 this year, and four days off for Reunification Day (April 30) and International Workers’ Day (May 1), according to the 2019 Labor Code.

As the Hung Kings Commemoration Day falls on Sunday, people will be entitled to another day off the following Monday as compensation.

This means the three-day holiday for the Hung Kings Commemoration Day will run from Saturday, April 9, to Monday, April 11.

Similarly, as the Reunification Day and International Workers’ Day fall on Saturday and Sunday, the next Monday and Tuesday will be treated as compensated days off.

Laborers will thus have a four-day break from April 30 to May 3 to mark these two public holidays.

This schedule applies to officials, civil servants, and employees of administrative agencies, political organizations, and socio-political organizations.

Agencies and organizations that do not implement a fixed work regime with two days off every weekend should rely on their specific operation plans to arrange a suitable holiday schedule.

The upcoming holidays are expected to be the peak period of domestic tourism and will also kick-start the summer tourist season in Vietnam.
