Vietnam health ministry confirms 249,153 more COVID-19 cases

Vietnam’s Ministry of Health recorded 249,153 COVID-19 patients across the nation on Tuesday, along with 186,137 recoveries and 65 pathogen-linked deaths.

The newest cases, including four imported and 249,149 domestic transmissions, were found in 62 provinces and cities, the health ministry said.

Thai Binh, Hung Yen, Quang Ninh, and Vinh Phuc Provinces reported 131,439 of the latest local cases, including 118,418 detected on previous days; Hanoi 16,014; Phu Tho Province 5,920; Nghe An Province 4,820; Hai Duong Province 4,219; Bac Giang Province 3,949; Dak Lak Province 3,478; Ca Mau Province 3,053; Quang Binh Province 2,882; Lam Dong Province 2,349; Ben Tre Province 1,748; Binh Duong Province 1,512; Ho Chi Minh City 1,094; Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province 1,060; Khanh Hoa Province 1,013; Hai Phong City 776; Da Nang 747; Quang Nam Province 348; and Can Tho City 96.

The health ministry logged 131,709 infections on Monday.

Vietnam has confirmed 8,331,240 community transmissions in all its 63 provinces and cities since the fourth virus wave broke out on April 27, 2021. Above 4.4 million of them have recovered from COVID-19.

Hanoi is the biggest epicenter with 1,204,302 patients, followed by Ho Chi Minh City with 585,328, Binh Duong Province with 363,521, Nghe An Province 356,071, Hai Duong Province 322,064, Bac Ninh Province 303,363, Ca Mau Province 124,464, Tay Ninh Province with 116,543, Hai Phong City 111,172, Dong Nai Province with 105,205, Binh Phuoc Province 101,119, Da Nang with 87,438, and Can Tho City with 48,175.

Vietnam registered only 1,570 locally-transmitted infections in total in the previous three waves.

The health ministry documented 186,137 recovered patients on Tuesday, lifting the national count to 4,468,805.

The toll has risen to 42,014, with 65 virus-related fatalities added today. 

Vietnam has announced 8,338,914 cases in total since the COVID-19 pandemic first hit the country in early 2020.

Health workers have administered more than 202 million vaccine doses, including 201,193 shots on Monday, since vaccination was rolled out nationwide on March 8, 2021.

Nearly 185 million doses have been given to the adult demographic of the country’s 98 million people, including 70,946,442 first shots, 67,892,827 second doses, 14,660,747 additional primary jabs, and 29,970,276 boosters.    

A combined 17.062.797 shots have been injected into children aged 12-17, including 8,754,946 first doses and 8,307,851 second jabs.
