About 2,000 people participated in a run at Hoan Kiem Lake in Hanoi on Sunday morning to celebrate this year’s Cashless Day.
The run, organized by Saigon Thuong Tin Commercial Joint Stock Bank (Sacombank) and Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper, is among a series of activities organized to mark the 2022 Cashless Day.

The Cashless Day, which has been marked annually on June 16 since 2019 by Tuoi Tre and the State Bank of Vietnam, contributes to building a cashless society, a goal that previously set by the Vietnamese government.
The opening ceremony of the Cashless Day Run was attended by Pham Thanh Ha, deputy governor of the State Bank of Vietnam, Nguyen Tuong Lam, secretary of the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, Nguyen Duc Thach Diem, standing vice-chairman of the board of directors and general director of Sacombank, and Tran Xuan Toan, member of Tuoi Tre’s editorial board.

Although the run started at 7:00 am, 2,000 participants were already present at Hoan Kiem Lake as of 5:00 am to prepare for the activity.
Among them were Hoang Nguyen Thanh, gold medalist in men’s marathon, and Hoang Thi Ngoc Hoa, who won the bronze medal in women’s marathon, at the 31st Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Vietnam in May.
