Police in the Central Highlands province of Gia Lai are investigating the identities of two skeletons discovered in hammocks in a local forest on Monday.

A group of bamboo shoot pickers discovered the corpses in the Kroong Commune forest in Kbang District, which borders Kon Tum Province, the Gia Lai police said on Tuesday.

Upon the pickers’ arrival at the location of the two hammocks, only rotting clothes remained on the two skeletons.

Many items such as backpacks, flashlights, lighters, and some personal belongings were also found at the scene.

Initial assessment showed that the victims died about seven to eight months before.

Police officers anticipated that the two bodies are likely to be visitors from other localities rather than Kbang District, which has recorded no missing cases recently.
