A fire broke out at an electrical appliance shop in Truong Long Commune, Phong Dien District, Can Tho City, southern Vietnam early on Sunday morning, claiming the lives of two children, aged nine and 12.

The authorities of Phong Dien District on Monday informed that the tragic incident occurred at 0:47 am at the H.G. electrical device store owned by Pham Thanh H., 43, and his wife, Nguyen Thi Phuong G., 38, on road No. 926 in Truong Long Commune.

Upon receiving the news, the municipal fire prevention and fighting police division sent three fire trucks, two specialized vehicles, and 38 firefighters to the scene.

The fire was put out at 2:15 am on the same day.

However, the two children of H. and G. died of smoke inhalation on the spot.

Local police are investigating the cause of the incident.
