Tens of power poles are standing in the middle of Le Van Chi Street in Thu Duc City, under Ho Chi Minh City, posing a high risk of traffic accidents and hindering traveling.
A 2.5-kilometer section of Le Van Chi Street from an intersection with Linh Trung Street to National Highway 1A in Linh Trung Ward, Thu Duc City is being upgraded and power poles on the section have yet to be relocated.
Many drivers have been surprised and lurched when facing these power poles.
During rush hours, traffic becomes more chaotic given the high volume of vehicles.
Some warning signs have been erected at the construction site but it is difficult to see them at night.
A nearby person said that the slow progress of the project has affected the life of people along the street.
“Thick dust hinders customers from visiting my store. The power poles standing in the middle of the street are dangerous for drivers, especially at night," a local resident said.
“I hope the project will be completed and the power poles will be relocated soon."
A representative of Thu Duc Power Company, which manages these power poles, told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper that some power poles have not been relocated due to obstacles in site clearance.
The authorities of Thu Duc City have yet to complete the handover of a new site for these power poles.
In cleared areas, poles and electric wires have been made available, the representative informed.
This is a high-voltage power line, so new poles should be erected so that electric wires can be stretched continuously. Existing poles are still in use.
Many building materials have been left at the construction site of the project for some two years.
