-- General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee To Lam and his spouse Ngo Phuong Ly, along with a high-ranking delegation of Vietnam, left Hanoi on Sunday morning for a state visit to Indonesia, an official visit to the ASEAN Secretariat based in the country, and an official visit to Singapore, the Vietnam News Agency reported.

-- The Ho Chi Minh City Forest Protection Department on Saturday received a long-tailed monkey whose tail was amputated, which was voluntarily handed over by a resident from Binh Chanh District.

-- An employee of Hanh Luyen, a long-haul bus company in Vietnam, has been suspended following an altercation with a foreign passenger after the latter was denied a restroom stop in north-central Quang Tri Province on Thursday, a Hanh Luyen representative confirmed on Saturday.

-- The Hanoi Department of Tourism has issued a document requesting travel service businesses, including those offering tours and passenger transport services, not to organize tours to the ‘train street’ where coffee shops are just inches from the active railway in order to ensure safety for tourists and maintain traffic order.

-- The Vietnam Electricity Group has launched a campaign to supply electricity to Con Dao, a popular island destination off Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province in southern Vietnam, by September 2 this year.

-- Pyn Elite Fund, one of the largest foreign funds in the Vietnamese stock market, has revealed that it purchased 54 million shares of Vietnam International Commercial Joint Stock Bank (VIB) after Commonwealth Bank of Australia divested its stake.

-- Lim Heon Young, a South Korean national and independent board member of An Phat Holdings Group, a major hi-tech plastic producer in Vietnam, has recently submitted his resignation. Lim Heon Young has been holding the post since June 2021.

World News

-- Hundreds of thousands of people in Australia's Queensland state were without power on Sunday after ex-tropical cyclone Alfred brought damaging winds and heavy rains, sparking flood warnings, according to Reuters.

-- South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol walked out of a detention centre on Saturday after prosecutors decided not to appeal a court decision to cancel the impeached leader's arrest warrant on insurrection charges, Reuters reported.
