Police in Ho Chi Minh City have given a driver a ticket for driving a tractor-trailer against the direction of traffic on a bridge in Thu Duc City on Thursday.

The penalty for P.N.A., 39, hailing from central Thua Thien-Hue Province, ranges from VND4-6 million (US$170-256) and is coupled with the revocation of his driver’s license for two to four months.

P.N.A. drove a tractor-trailer toward the Saigon Hi-Tech Park in Thu Duc City at 6:36 am on Thursday when it was forbidden hours for heavy vehicles.

Therefore, the park’s security guards turned A. away.

After quarreling with the security guards, the driver turned the tractor-trailer around and intentionally drove it against the direction of traffic to the Phu Huu Bridge.

He gave constant honks during the wrong-way drive.

After being booked by the local traffic police team, A. tested zero for alcohol concentration and negative for drugs.

He admitted to wrong-way driving.

The traffic police team then made a record of A.’s wrongdoing.
