A female tourist joining a tour to Pygmy Cave in the Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park, located in Quang Binh Province, north-central Vietnam, accused a tour guide of sexually harassing her at midnight on Tuesday.
The Quang Binh Department of Tourism said on Thursday that it was verifying the case.
The tourist, named L.P.T., wrote on social media that a tour guide from Jungle Boss Tours Company, which specializes in adventure tours to Quang Binh, opened her tent’s zipper three times at midnight and demanded to sleep with her.
After dinner on Tuesday, T. talked with the tour guide, named N.V.T.. During the conversation, the tour guide said he had a crush on the tourist although he is married.
He also did impolite acts to her.
The tourist later went to bed in her tent. However, the tour guide reached her tent and opened the tent’s zipper.
L.P.T. was frightened and asked the tour guide to go but he approached her tent two more times and said he wanted to sleep with her.
The tourist later reported the case to another employee of the tour operator.
The company then dispatched employees to T.’s residence to make an apology and promise to handle the case.
The tour guide also admitted his acts, called the tourist to apologize to her, and quit his job.
Jungle Boss Tours returned the tour costs to the tourist.
