-- A pod of about 20 dolphins gathered in the water near Mui Dien Cape in south-central Phu Yen Province on Sunday morning.

-- A 53-year-old and and his 26-year-old son-in-law and 28-year-old son died of electric shock after the two latter men tried to rescue their father, who was electrocuted and fell into a well while they were repairing a water bump at their house in the Central Highlands province of Gia Lai on Sunday, according to the Vietnam News Agency.

-- Vietnamese carrier Vietjet received three new Airbus A321neo ACF (Airbus Cabin Flex) planes from European aircraft manufacturer Airbus and added the 240-seat airliners to its fleet.

-- Vietnam exported nearly US$1 billion worth of fruits and vegetables in the first quarter of 2023, up eight percent from a year earlier, according to the Vietnam News Agency.

-- Dinh Anh Hoang and Tran Mai Ngoc defeated Clarence Chew and Jian Zheng of Singapore 3-1 in the mixed doubles final of table tennis at the 2023 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Cambodia on Sunday to win Vietnam’s first gold medal in this category in 26 years.

-- Vietnam will face Myanmar in the 2023 SEA Games women’s football final at 7:00 pm on Monday.

-- Barcelona claimed their 27th LaLiga title and first for four years on Sunday after two first-half goals from Robert Lewandowski spurred them to a comfortable 4-2 victory over city rivals Espanyol, Reuters reported.

World news

-- “A tractor trailer and a van crashed on a highway in the northern Mexican state of Tamaulipas on Sunday morning, killing 26 people,” Reuters quoted local authorities as saying.

-- “The Philippine central bank has no reason to raise interest rates further as domestic inflation is easing,” Reuters quoted the country’s finance minister on Monday morning as saying ahead of a May 18 monetary policy meeting.
