Hoc Mon District in Ho Chi Minh City put its first-ever ecotourism park into service on Thursday morning, providing an extra public space to local residents.

The park spans over six hectares in Xuan Thoi Son Ward, housing a square, viewpoints, and a tourist service zone along with many other auxiliary facilities.

Work on the ecotourism park began on December 20 last year.

It carries a price tag of VND70 billion (US$3 million), all of which came from the local budget.

Nguyen Van Tuyen, vice-chairman of the Hoc Mon administration, said it is essential to develop a public park because the district lacks a park and green space for local inhabitants to relax and exercise.

The ecotourism park is expected to provide a public space for the locals and contribute to local tourism growth.
