-- A man jumped from an elevated station of the Cat Linh-Ha Dong metro line in Dong Da District, Hanoi, landed on top of a car, and subsequently succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday afternoon.

-- A court in Thua Thien-Hue Province, central Vietnam on Tuesday handed capital punishment to a 51-year-old man for fatally stabbing his partner 31 times.

-- Around 100 people recently dedicated four days to clearing 400 metric tons of waste, contributing to the restoration of the Sa Huynh saltwater lagoon in Quang Ngai Province, central Vietnam.

-- Following heavy rainfall on Tuesday afternoon, Quang Ngai City in the namesake province witnessed widespread flooding, with numerous roads submerged and vehicles stalled. 

-- Traffic police officers in Ho Chi Minh City addressed 10,929 instances of alcohol-related violations in August, according to the municipal Department of Public Security. 

-- Ninety-two people, including homeless individuals, those with mental health issues, and orphans residing at the Social Support Center in Binh Thanh District, Ho Chi Minh City received free health check-ups on Tuesday.

-- Phan Van Mai, chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, has tasked various departments with the study on beautifying the Saigon River bank alongside Thu Duc City to align with the vibrant atmosphere at Bach Dang Wharf in District 1.

Business

-- Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs plans to offer security aid of about 5 billion yen (US$34.1 million) to six 'like-minded' countries, including Vietnam and Indonesia, in fiscal 2024, according to Japanese publications.

-- Messe Frankfurt, one of the biggest exhibition organizers in the world, and the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency have announced the organization of the Vietnam International Trade Fair for Apparel, Textiles, and Textile Technologies in Ho Chi Minh City from February 28 to March 1, 2024. The event aims to attract over 500 exhibitors and around 35,000 visitors, positioning Vietnam as a key player in the global textile market.

-- The Petrovietnam Technical Services Corporation and its Singaporean partner Sembcorp Utilities Pte Ltd have been granted a survey license and a letter of intent to carry out a project to develop offshore renewable energy in Vietnam and export clean electricity to Singapore.
