Security personnel at Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi and Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City recently detected bullets in two passengers’ carry-on baggage during security scans.
The most recent detection found Nguyen Ke N., a 35-year-old resident of Bac Tu Liem District, Hanoi, bringing one bullet in his carry-on while he was completing security screening procedures at Noi Bai for his flight, QH 1601, bound for Pleiku City in the Central Highlands province of Gia Lai on Tuesday.
The Noi Bai Aviation Security Center coordinated with the Northern Airports Authority to ban N. from boarding the flight and make a record of the incident.
Afterward, the case was transferred to the police station at the airport for further measures in accordance with the law.
Previously, at 10:19 pm on Sunday, security officers at Tan Son Nhat discovered five cartridges with intact primers, stamped ‘D660916,’ in the carry-on of 30-year-old Nguyen Van V., who was scheduled to board flight VN270 to Hanoi at 11:00 pm the same day.
The officers separated the items from passenger V. before performing thorough body swabbing on him and physically searching his baggage.
Consequently, V. was denied boarding flight VN270.
The Tan Son Nhat airport authorities worked with the Southern Airports Authority to book the case, before handing over V. and related evidence to police officers stationed at the airport.
