Vietnam won the highest award at the 15th world's best rice competition held in the Philippines for its ST25 rice.
This is the second time ST25 rice has been named the best rice variety in the world, following the first time in 2019.
The competition is part of the World Rice Conference Summit organized by the Rice Trader, a publication providing in-depth analysis of the global rice industry, on Thursday.
ST25 defeated 29 other rice samples from 10 countries to claim the title.
It was followed by Cambodian and Indian rice varieties.

Vietnamese agricultural engineer Ho Quang Cua, who breeds and improves the ST25 rice variety, told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper via a phone call that he was happy and honored.
The ST25 rice sample brought to the competition this year was cultivated on 2.6 hectares in Soc Trang Province, southern Vietnam.
The rice was harvested on September 14 and 15, when it was raining, but it was still fragrant, Cua added.
Delegates at the conference asked for all 50 200-gram packs of ST25 rice after it was named the best rice in the world and praised its fragrance, Cua informed.
