A woman crashed her Mercedes-Benz into a house in the Old Quarter in Hanoi early on Monday morning, leading to the partial collapse of the building.

The car was traveling on Hang Bac Street in Hoan Kiem District at about 3:00 am on the day, when it lost control and rammed the house on the street.

After the crash, the car was stuck in the rubble.

An official from the People’s Committee of Hang Bac Ward told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper that the collision caused no casualties.

The car was carrying two people when the accident happened, said the official.

The affected house was identified as an ancient building. Though its part collapsed, its pillars and roof were not damaged by the crash.

After the accident, police officers quickly approached the scene for an investigation.

They blocked part of the street to remove the car from the rubble.

“The house is under repair, and the driver of the car pledged to pay compensation to the owner of the home,” said the official.
