3 property projects abandoned in prime sites in downtown Da Nang

Three property projects located in prime sites in the heart of Da Nang City, central Vietnam have been left desolate for dozens of years.
They are Da Nang Center, Vien Dong Meridian, and Golden Square.
An investment certificate was issued in 2008 for the Da Nang Center project at 8 Phan Chau Trinh Street.
The investor of the project is Vu Chau Long Real Estate Joint Stock Company.
The project, covering nearly 8,000 square meters of land, was designed to have high-end apartments, a trade center, and a five-star hotel.
Work on the project started in 2008 and a fence surrounding the project was completed as of September 2009.
Since then, the project has been deserted.
The fence has been vandalized with spray paint and graffiti, while there is a stagnant pond inside.

Separated by several steps, the Vien Dong Meridian project, situated on tens of thousands of square meters at 84 Hung Vuong Street, is confronting a similar destiny.
Originally designed to encompass a trade center, offices, hotels, and upscale apartments, the project was scheduled to be operational in the second quarter of 2011, following a planned construction period of 36 months.
However, its investor has repeatedly proposed delaying the completion time.
In 2019, the Da Nang administration announced the cessation of the project.
The land has been transferred to another company for the development of a new project but it is now full of weeds.

Meanwhile, the site of the Golden Square project, which is surrounded by four streets, is now home to incomplete mossy buildings with rusty iron bars.
The municipal authorities initially sanctioned the project to be carried out from February 2008 to February 2011.
However, the planned completion time was subsequently extended to October 31, 2018.
The project was put on hold after the construction of a surrounding fence, two basements, and four floors.
In March this year, the Da Nang Department of Planning and Investment halted the project.
