A 49-year-old from Ha Tinh Province, north-central Vietnam has been detained for a four-month period after being caught storing frozen animals parts from species considered rare and endangered.
Police in the province’s Huong Son District on Tuesday pressed charges against Tran Anh Tuan for allegedly violating regulations on the protection of endangered and rare animals.
On Wednesday last week, police officers raided Tuan’s residence and discovered that he had been storing six dead animals with long tails, tiny heads, and long snouts; two animals with yellow coats with black stripes; and one with a black coat in a refrigerator.
Tuan confessed that these animals included six pangolins, two tigers, and one chamois head.
He admitted to having purchased them for resale.
