Hoi An City, an internationally famous tourist city in Quang Nam Province, central Vietnam, has peerless cultural and ecological landscapes, said Pham Thi Thanh Huong, acting head of the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in Vietnam.
During a ceremony on Sunday to announce Hoi An's inclusion in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network in 2023, Huong remarked that Hoi An is globally renowned for its heritage complex.
She also noted that the city’s incomparable cultural and ecological landscapes, along with its cultural resources – specifically crafts and folk art handed down through many generations – have contributed to making Hoi An an unmissable destination in Vietnam.
Hoi An should improve its access to crafts and folk art in order to achieve sustainable socio-economic development targets, while cementing its brand and international reputation, Huong emphasized.

UNESCO honored Hoi An as a global creative city of crafts and folk art on Sunday after recognizing the city as a world cultural heritage site in 1999.
Hoi An City chairman Nguyen Van Son affirmed that the city’s inclusion in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network was the recognition of the tremendous efforts of local authorities and residents.
Son emphasized that Hoi An values this opportunity and will implement action plans and initiatives aimed at enhancing the living conditions of locals while promoting the city's image on the global stage.
