A recent incident in Hoang Mai District, Hanoi raised fire safety concerns as a group of residents set off fireworks on their balcony within an apartment building, causing them to soar and land on the balconies of apartments above.

A video capturing the incident went viral on social media on Thursday.

In the clip, two to three people launched fireworks on the third-floor balcony of a condo building approximately 30 stories high, some of which reached 15-20 meters in height and shot straight into the balconies and windows of apartments above, resulting in a high risk of fire.

D.D.A., a resident of Sunshine Garden apartment building in Hoang Mai District, confirmed that he filmed the incident from his flat at around 11:00 pm on Wednesday.

Authorities said they are investigating the incident to verify the origin of the fireworks.

Police in Hanoi have demanded strict compliance with regulations regarding the production, preservation, transportation, trading, and use of fireworks.

They emphasize the importance of following manufacturer instructions and opting for flat, well-ventilated locations situated away from flammable materials.

Beginning on January 11, 2021, people in Vietnam have been permitted to use certain types of fireworks, a relaxation of the rules on fireworks and firecrackers, the private use of which had previously been banned since 1994.
