Thanh Buoi, a major transport firm in Ho Chi Minh City, has been regranted a business license more than three months after having the license revoked in the wake of a particularly fatal traffic accident.
The company is now authorized to provide passenger transport services on designated routes and through contractual agreements, as well as offering tourist transport and cargo transport using both automobiles and container trucks.
A representative of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport confirmed to Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper on Thursday that had it received and approved the company’s application for the license.
The department will continue to keep a close watch on Thanh Buoi’s adoption of solutions to ease the consequences of its violations.
The department also asked the firm to comply with the law after resuming its operation.
Established in 2000, Thanh Buoi has more than 1,300 employees.
It served a large number of passengers on routes between Ho Chi Minh City, the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho, and Da Lat City in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong.
In November last year, Thanh Buoi had its business license revoked indefinitely for its violations during the license application.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport, the company provided copies that were inconsistent with the original documents or false information in its application for the business license.
The move was made after local authorities launched an investigation into the company's compliance with regulations on providing transport services using long-haul buses following a fatal crash between a Thanh Buoi sleeper bus and a 16-seater car in Dong Nai Province, southern Vietnam, killing five people and injuring four on September 30, 2023.
The investigation uncovered the company’s violations, such as failure to comply with traffic safety processes and infringement of regulations on passenger pick-up and drop-off.
