Sa Pa, a famous tourist town in northern Vietnam, has rolled out a promotional campaign that includes over 130 tourism firms offering discounts and free services from now until the end of the year.
Located in Lao Cai Province, Sa Pa is entering the so-called most beautiful season of the year, known as the ‘cloud-hunting’ season.
However, the number of travelers to the town is lower than that recorded during the same period last year.
To attract more tourists, the province has launched its biggest tourism promotional program to date, called ‘Visiting Sa Pa to Catch Sight of Clouds.’
Do Van Tan, vice-chairman of the Sa Pa People’s Committee, said that the town was one of the first areas in northern Vietnam to be struck by typhoon Yagi, the third storm to hit Vietnam this year.
The super typhoon made landfall in the northern region in early September, wreaking havoc on many localities. The subsequent heavy rain, floods, and landslides left 350 people dead or missing.
After the damage, Sa Pa started concentrating on restoring traffic infrastructure and stabilizing residents’ lives and production, with tourism development now becoming the town's priority.
The new promotional campaign, with discounts of up to 50 percent offered, is one of Sa Pa's efforts to attract travelers.
In addition to attractive offers, tourism service suppliers pledge to ensure the quality of products and services and satisfy visitors with memorable experiences.
Pham Cao Vy, chairman of the Lao Cai Tourism Association, said that all the tourism firms in the town are engaging in the promotional program, reflecting the spirit of solidarity.
Many tourist attractions in Sa Pa such as Ta Phin Stone Garden and Dreamy Rose Garden are open to tourists for free.
Other promotions include the Cat Cat tourist area treating visitors to complimentary northwestern culinary experiences and locals’ daily activities.
A slew of hotels in Sa Pa are offering discounts of up to 50 percent to guests who make direct room bookings, while passenger transport service providers are reducing the price of a round-trip ticket by up to 30 percent.
Moreover, multiple events have been organized to beguile tourists to Sa Pa, including the Fansipan Succulent Festival, the Vietnam Mountain Marathon, and the cherry blossom fest on the O Long Tea Hill.

In October and November each year, Sa Pa is shrouded in ethereal clouds, allowing visitors to fully immerse themselves in the allure of the charming natural landscapes.
Temperatures in the town often range from 11 to 20 degrees Celsius during this period.
