Seven men, aged between 20 and 50, have been arrested for the alleged rape and assault of a 15-year-old girl in Ca Mau Province, southern Vietnam, with six of them being relatives of the teengirl, local police said on Friday.

These suspects include Dang Chi Nguyen, 50; Nguyen Khanh Tien, 26; Tran Van Tong, 26; Lam Van Nho, 21; Nguyen Khanh Bang, 22; Nguyen Trong Nguyen, 20; and Lam Trung Luan, 37, all residing in Ca Mau’s Cai Nuoc District.

The victim, called Y., is also a native of Cai Nuoc.

Her family reported to the police that a person named L. took Y. to a local hotel where they had sexual intercourse on February 18 this year.

At a local police station, Y. confessed that she and L. met and fell for each other when she was taking care of her sick paternal grandmother at the Cai Nuoc General Hospital.

The couple engaged in sexual activities several times.

The girl also revealed that during her stay at her paternal grandmother’s house since 2017, when she was seven years old, she had been sexually assaulted by six of her relatives, including her uncle and his two sons.
