With its dense tree cover, Tra Vinh City in the namesake province has been dubbed ‘the green city’ of the Mekong Delta region, quickly becoming an emerging wellness retreat destination in southern Vietnam.
Visitors can find nearly 14,000 trees along 72 streets, including some 800 century-old plants in the city.
At a tourism promotion conference in Ho Chi Minh City in August, Duong Hoang Sum, director of the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism in Tra Vinh Province, referenced a report from early 2024 by air quality technology company IQAir, wherein Tra Vinh ranked third among the top 15 cities in Southeast Asia for best air quality.
He underlined that the green space and fresh air increase the city's potential to become a wellness retreat attraction.
Furthermore, Tra Vinh Province is currently focusing on developing cultural tourism, community-based tourism, ecotourism, and other models treating tourists to the province’s unique tourism products and services.
