-- The administration in Quang Tri Province, north central Vietnam has proposed building a new bridge to replace the Dakrong Bridge which has deteriorated and is on the verge of collapse. The Dakrong Bridge connects Vietnam’s National Highway 9 with Laos and Thailand.
-- The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism in Thanh Hoa Province, north central Vietnam on Monday worked with representatives of British broadcaster BBC on a cooperation plan to promote the province’s tourism on BBC News.
-- Border guards in Quang Tri Province last week caught five Lao people red-handed transporting 100 bricks of heroin from Laos to Vietnam, Le Van Phuong, commander of the Quang Tri Border Guard, said on Monday.
-- A fire accompanied by many explosions engulfed a wood processing facility in Dong Thap Province, southern Vietnam on Monday night. No people were inside the facility at the time the blaze erupted.
-- Relevant units expect to complete the handling of a landslide inside Chi Thanh Tunnel in Phu Yen Province, south-central Vietnam by Thursday this week. The incident occurred on Tuesday last week during the repair of the tunnel.
-- Long Thanh International Airport, which is underway in Dong Nai Province, a neighbor of Ho Chi Minh City, will need some 14,000 workers when its first phase is completed, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam.

-- The State Bank of Vietnam on Monday announced that it would halt gold bullion auctions and introduce a new strategy to stabilize local gold prices as early as June 3. The central bank held nine gold auctions from April 19 with six of them being a success, supplying over 1.8 million metric tons of gold to the market.
-- The government in An Giang Province, southern Vietnam on Monday evening opened the 2024 Tinh Bien - An Giang International Trade Fair, which features 300 booths of 120 enterprises in Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia. The fair will last for seven days until June 2.

-- The Asian Football Confederation has announced the ranking of football tournaments in Asian countries with Vietnam’s V-League ranking 14th, below those in Thailand and Malaysia in Southeast Asia.
