Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation (EVNHCMC) has attributed a 28-minute power blackout at the backup data center of Quang Trung Software City, Vietnam's first and largest software park, on Friday to the unstable operation of power generators there.
The incident resulted in several stock brokerages losing connection to the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange (HoSE).
A representative of EVNHCMC told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper on Sunday that Quang Trung Software City is one of the most important power consumers in the southern metropolis and the power company always attaches great importance to supplying power to the software park.
On Friday, An Phu Dong Power Company, under the auspices of EVNHCMC, maintained the power grid at the software park and relocated the power measurement system there but did not cause the power outage, EVNHCMC claimed.
An Phu Dong is working with Quang Trung Software City and the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange to investigate the root cause of the incident, with a view to ensuring a stable power supply to the software city.
On Friday morning, many stock brokerages reported connection issues that prevented investors from trading on HoSE.
The power supply was restored at 11:00 am on the same day.
On Friday afternoon, HoSE announced that the power outage at Quang Trung Software City caused the disconnection of some securities firms from the bourse.
