Motorbike riders in Ho Chi Minh City have to suffer traffic congestion and see their lanes encroached on by cars and trucks during rush hours.
Many motorcyclists are forced to drive down sidewalks.
The situation is rife across the city. It not only causes danger to motorcyclists but also makes traffic chaotic.
As a case in point, motorcycle riders have to struggle to pass through National Highway 22 in the northwest of the southern metropolis as cars, coaches, and trucks fully occupy their lanes.
Hoang, a resident in Tan Binh District, who travels to Hoc Mon District daily to work, shared that he had to thread his ways through long lines of cars and coaches on the motorbike lanes.
He sometimes has to run his motorbike on sidewalks.
Facing the same fate, Loan, a trader at Hoc Mon Market, said she was once hit by a truck which suddenly changed lanes to the motorbike lane. The truck driver later accelerated to run away and ignore her.
Traffic jams have become a daily occurrence during peak hours in Ho Chi Minh City.
Motorbike riders said they were afraid of car drivers who seek to get through traffic jams rather than the traffic jams.
