A Vietnamese company has managed to assemble a small-sized pickup truck model to battle fires in alleyways in urban areas instead of relying on imported big trucks for firefighting.
The pickup truck costs VND1-1.2 billion (US$39,331-47,198).
The fire pickup truck launched by Ho Chi Minh City-based Vinh Phat Motors is the first of its kind in Vietnam.
The vehicle called SANDEUR S-100 was designed to be over 1.8 meters wide and 5.8 meters long, have a tonnage of 3,490 kilograms, and be able to carry five people and firefighting equipment.
The vehicle is equipped with basic firefighting equipment, such as a water pump, a water tank, a foam tank, a nozzle which can help spray water as far as 50-60 meters, and equipment for rescue.
The vehicles will be provided to professional firefighting units as well as semi-professional and private units in localities in Vietnam. Photo: Cong Trung / Tuoi Tre |
It took Vinh Phat Motors two years to complete the model due to strict requirements in design and equipment, said Vinh Phat Motors chairman and general director Tran Vinh Ha.
The vehicle will help with firefighting in alleyways in large cities.
At a ceremony to launch the vehicle, Colonel Pham Van Hieu, deputy director of the Department of Industry Security under the Ministry of Public Security, affirmed that the vehicle was certified by the Vietnam Register.
In addition to professional firefighting units, residential groups, enterprises, farms, and factories can own and use the vehicles.
