Singer Duc Tuan climbed onto the roof of an ancient house, also a coffee shop, in Hoi An Ancient Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Quang Nam Province, central Vietnam for a photoshoot without the permission of the coffee shop, the coffee shop manager affirmed with Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper on Friday.
Earlier, some customers posed for photos on the roof of the house and broke tiles.
Some customers said they just reached the rooftop to drink coffee but later climbed onto the roof to pose for photos.
As a result, the coffee shop does not allow customers to climb onto the roof anymore, the manager informed.
“Noone in Duc Tuan’s crew told us that they would reach the roof for a photoshoot.
“They said they went up to the rooftop to drink coffee. We served them as normal and did not know anything until the photo album was uploaded to Facebook,” the coffee shop manager claimed.

Meanwhile, the administrator of the verified Facebook account of singer Duc Tuan, Duc Tuan - the Divo, affirmed singer Duc Tuan and his crew used the coffee shop’s roof as a background for the singer’s photoshoot with the agreement of the coffee shop.
“We have a recording of [the coffee shop’s] consent for us to snap photos on the roof.”
Photos of Duc Tuan's striking poses on the roof of the old house in Hoi An have sparked a wave of criticism across Vietnamese social media.
Vice-chairman of the administration in Hoi An City Nguyen Van Lanh commented on the Facebook page of singer Duc Tuan, Duc Tuan - the Divo, that Duc Tuan’s voice might be beautiful but his cultural knowledge was limited.
A working team of Hoi An City inspected the coffee shop on Thursday afternoon.
The coffee shop manager reaffirmed with the working team that she did not allow Duc Tuan and his crew to take photos on the roof.
She added that if Duc Tuan’s crew could show the recording of the coffee shop’s permission as they said, the coffee shop would take full responsibility.
Nguyen Van Son, chairman of the People’s Committee of Hoi An City, said that the relevant units were reviewing regulations to impose a fine on Duc Tuan.
